Venue

The conference is organized at the conference center Principino Eventi, Viale Guglielmo Marconi 130, Viareggio, Lucca (Map).

The local organizing committee is from the SIEm research unit at the University of Pisa, Italy.

Located at the very famous promenade of Viareggio, it has always been a meeting point for the intellectual and artistic life of the Tuscan coast.

A few steps from some of the most prestigious hotels in Versilia, it is easily reachable from Viareggio station and from Pisa airport, which is about 30 km away.

What to see around Viareggio

Viareggio: the sea on one side, the white peaks of the Apuane Alps on the other – who has never seen the classic snapshot of Viareggio? Strolling through the charming streets of the centre, having an ice cream in the pine forest, going to the sea in the Darsena or, even further, to the wildest part of the beach, the Lecciona – almost at Torre del Lago; eating fish in one of the typical seaside trattorias and enjoying the compassionate weather of a salty day.

The most important town in Versilia, founded as a gateway to the sea of Lucca, owes its name to the via regia, the road that went from the walled city to the sea in the Middle Ages.

Nightlife in Viareggio

In Viareggio, the nightlife comes alive especially during the summer months, with venues and bars along the seafront and on Viale Europa adjacent to the Ponente pine forest. Many evenings are organized by the beach resorts or themed parties in the hotels.
For those nostalgic for traditional discos, we move a few kilometers away, but still in Versilia, with Seven Apple, Bussola, and Capannina di Franceschi.
For food lovers, the traditional festivals with food stands and live music are not to be missed.
